The Office of Special Education Services (OSES) in South Carolina is dedicated to providing high-quality resources and services to support positive student outcomes when it comes to mental and behavioral health needs. To this end, OSES has developed several programs and initiatives aimed at improving public safety and security in South Carolina's communities. The South Carolina Birth Outcomes Initiative (SCBOI) is an effort by the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) to improve the health of newborns in the Medicaid program. Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) is the benefit of the Medicaid program that provides personalized professional assessment and learning for educational interpreters in South Carolina.

The Centers for the Reeducation and Advancement of the Staff of Special Education and Related Services Teachers (SC-CREATE) is a program supported by OSES that aims to develop a highly qualified workforce of special education and related service teachers in South Carolina's public and charter schools. The Alternative Evaluation Portal is your gateway to all of South Carolina's systems, educational resources, and guides to support South Carolina's alternative evaluation administration. The South Carolina Educational Interpretation Center (SCEIC) offers personalized professional assessment and learning for educational interpreters in South Carolina. The Office of Programs and Initiatives (P&I) is responsible for the development and coordination of programs, projects, committees, and events proposed by OSES to improve the outcomes of students with disabilities in South Carolina. The Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) program emphasizes working with local law enforcement agencies to provide solutions to community problems. ALE partners with sheriffs and police chiefs to lead police operations aimed at making communities safer.
